What You’ll Do
-
Installing all equipment necessary to modify brand-new vehicles into police and emergency vehicles. This includes routing and installing wire harnesses, controllers, partitions, auxiliary batteries, light bars, push bumpers, power supplies, component trays, and consoles

Install electrical wiring, connect electrical fittings, drill holes, soldering and perform all physical tasks associated with modifying vehicles for the acceptance of emergency-related equipment

Develop wiring routes throughout the vehicle for the most efficient wiring path and enable future replacement and/or troubleshooting

Installation of required components with a knowledgeable background in 12-volt & 24-volt systems.

Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with equipment as necessary

Disassemble and reassembly of a diverse make of vehicles

Assist with vehicle and customer pick-up and delivery

Maintain a safe, clean and orderly environment

Continuous learning in manufacturer products and best practice installation techniques

Assist with parts ordering

Will work independently, maintain accurate records, find efficiencies while respecting quality, and contribute ideas to the company

Must be comfortable working in an industrial environment that may require heavy physical duties
-
Work will involve frequent standing, bending, twisting, stooping and kneeling.

Must exercise teamwork and communicate effectively with co-workers and clients.

Work inside and outside vehicles inside a shop environment

Occasional local travel for equipment pickups, deliveries and onsite installations

Some overtime or weekend hours may be required to fulfill time-sensitive projects

Have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Qualifications

2+ years of automotive upfitting, automotive wiring and installation of emergency vehicle equipment
-
Knowledge of vehicle installation techniques
-
Knowledge of vehicle wiring and current rating
-
Skilled in the use of hand, electric, air tools, and electronic tools such as wire cutters, crimpers, etc.

Ability to read and use maintenance manuals and circuit diagrams.
-
Knowledge of mobile electronics hardware and software terminology and procedures.
Who You are

2+ Years of automotive upfitting, automotive wiring and installation of emergency vehicle equipment
-
Possesses an aptitude to work safely with tools and thoroughly understands auto wiring

Self-motivated
-
Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Have an appropriate mechanic’s toolset

High School Graduate or Equivalent
-
Have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
-
Able to pass a background check
-
Able to read drawings, including electrical schematics
-
Be able to follow directions; evaluate problems and prioritize tasks

Detail-oriented and focused on quality workmanship

Ability to train and mentor

Higher consideration will be given to candidates who have completed at least two years, preferably graduated, from a four-year trade school, vocational high school, or equivalent, with courses in general shop and automotive repair. Consideration will also be granted to those with a valid mechanic’s license or who are ASE Automotive Technician or EVT Emergency Vehicle Technician certified.
